Frequently asked questions

What is a Green Card and why do I need it?

The Green Card is proof that you have the basic knowledge required to play golf on a course. During the training, you’ll learn the rules of golf, safety, etiquette and how the game is played in practice.

You need a Green Card and a club membership to book tee times and play on a golf course. Quite simply, it’s your entry ticket into the world of golf.

Do I need my own clubs?

No. At Åsundsholm, you can borrow clubs. We have loan clubs available for both left- and right-handed players.

How long does the training take?

This varies depending entirely on your skills and level of commitment. The course covers both practical training and theory. When you feel ready, you’ll complete an online knowledge test and play so-called “mentor rounds” on the course.

Once the theory test is approved and you have scored 18 points over 9 holes during a mentor round, you have completed the Green Card.

Please note that the scorecard must be handed in at reception or registered via Min Golf. When you have reached 18 points over 9 holes, you also need to inform reception so we can activate your Green Card.

What is a mentor?

A mentor is a player who already holds a Green Card and has a handicap lower than 36. The mentor plays alongside you during your mentor rounds and offers guidance, tips and support. The club provides mentors, but you are also welcome to play with your own mentor, as long as they meet the requirements.

What happens after I have completed the Green Card?

Once approved and issued your Green Card, you are allowed to play on all golf courses affiliated with the Swedish Golf Federation, upon payment of the applicable green fee.
Please note that membership in a Swedish golf club is required to play at most golf courses in Sweden.

Can both children and adults take the Green Card course?

Yes, both juniors and adults are welcome to take the course.

However, we recommend that younger juniors earn their Green Card by taking part in our junior training programmes.
